Heidi joined the law firm of Swenson Lervick Syverson Trosvig Jacobson Schultz Cass, P.A. in 2007. As an attorney and shareholder, Heidi handles Alexandria's municipal criminal prosecution, a variety of family law matters, and other civil disputes.

Heidi began her legal career in 2000 as a law clerk for the Honorable Mark A. Munger in Duluth. She then served as an Assistant County Attorney in St. Louis, Olmsted and Douglas counties. As an Assistant County Attorney, Heidi focused on child protection, criminal prosecution, and juvenile delinquency cases.

Originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Heidi attended Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana, where she earned her BA magna cum laude in 1996. Heidi graduated cum laude from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2000, where she was a Presidential Law Scholar and was awarded the International Academy of Trial Lawyers Award.

Heidi is licensed to practice law in Minnesota and Wisconsin. She is a member of the Douglas County Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, and the Wisconsin Bar Association. Heidi served two terms on the Minnesota Supreme Court's Advisory Committee for the Rules of Criminal Procedure. She also served as the Vice Chair for the Committee on Appeals with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and is a past member of the Alexandria Area YMCA's Child Care Advisory Council. Heidi is a 2013 graduate of the Leadership Alexandria program and an active member of the Douglas County Domestic Violence Task Force. She presently serves as the Vision Team Chair for First Lutheran Church in Alexandria, is a member of Lakes Area Professional Women and serves on the Board of Trustees for Alexandria's Dollars for Scholars program. Heidi has also volunteered as a regular presenter for the Alexandria Police Department's Citizen's Police Academy.
